Edward is the current Artistic Director of Short North Stage. For SNS, he has directed, choreographed and designed: Hedwig, Tommy, Murder Ballad, A Chorus Line, Thrill Me, Last Night of Disco and others. Regional Director/Choreographer credits include: Hedwig and the Angry Inch (American Repertory Theater, Boston, MA- Broadway World Best Musical 2012), Is There Life After High School? (NYC Revival), Boomermania: The Musical About the Baby Boomers (Original Los Angeles Production), A Christmas Story and Forum (Little Theatre on the Square, IL) Spamalot, The Wiz, Mary Poppins (Shenandoah Music Theatre) The Rocky Horror Show, A Chorus Line, Dracula, RENT, All Shook Up, Charlie Brown, Chicago, Victor/Victoria, Honk!, Into the Woods, Starting Here, Starting Now, others. As a performer: Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein(National Tour), Phantom of the Opera (European Tour), Carol Channing in Concert (NYC and Tour), Oceania Cruise Lines(Europe 2005), Gateway Playhouse (NY), Prather Theatres (PA), Broward Stage Door (FL), Palace Theater (NH), Circa 21(IL), others.
Rick is a founding member of Short North Stage, and has served as producer for each SNS production since Follies in 2011. He was a writer and Science Editor with National Geographic Magazine for more than 25 years before focusing full time on theater. He has co-written three musicals-- Nefertiti, The Gloaming, and Let There Be Balloons. He served on the board of the Woolly Mammoth Theater Company of Washington, D.C. He earned a Masters of Journalism degree from Northwestern University, and was a Knight Fellow at Stanford University.
Dana has worked with Short North Stage for several years and is excited to step into the role of Managing Director. Dana previously served as the Artistic Director of Imagine Productions and as a Stage Manager for Short North Stage (The Who's Tommy, Sunset Boulevard, Thrill Me, A Little Night Music, The Full Monty). She received her BA in Theatre from The Ohio State University.
Mark Speer graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a BA in Classical Civilizations from Ohio University in 2010. He also holds an advanced diploma in audio engineering and has been a professional sound technician working in the field since 2005.
Vera Allen is a born and raised Columbus, Ohio native with a passion for theater and the arts. She studies Opera and Music Education at The Ohio State University and proceeded to pursue her own theater company for many years. Passionate about Theater, Education, and the Arts, Short North Stage was a natural fit. With the encouragement of her friends and husband, Vera is thrilled to join Short North Stage as a Marketing Director. In her free time, Vera loves to be on stage or out on the water in her Kayak. She also is a school teacher during the day teaching grades Kindergarten through 8th grade music classes. Grateful for an amazing group of local arts advocates, Vera is so happy to be a part of the Short North Stage team.
