Sheldon A. Goodrum is a committed public servant whose journey reflects a deep dedication to community and advocacy. Raised in Maumee, Ohio, Sheldon began his path in public service in 2015 by joining the U.S. Army and later transferring to the Air Force. These experiences instilled values of discipline, integrity, and a strong sense of duty.
After serving as a State Trooper with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Sheldon pursued a Master of Public Administration at The Ohio State University’s John Glenn College of Public Affairs. He went on to work with the City of Columbus Department of Development, where he collaborated with housing divisions, city planners, and economic development teams to revitalize neighborhoods and improve residents’ quality of life. This experience deepened his commitment to social justice and advocacy, leading him to earn a Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School.
As an attorney, Sheldon specializes in domestic relations law, focusing on adoption and advocacy, providing compassionate and comprehensive support to his clients. Beyond the courtroom, he is an active South Side Thrive Collaborative board member and volunteers with organizations like Habitat for Humanity and the Legal Aid Society of Columbus.
Sheldon’s passion for the arts and community has led to his role on the board of Short North Stage. He is excited to help others find their voice and passion through performing arts and believes the organization can continue to inspire, challenge, and uplift the community while fostering the next generation of creatives.
In his free time, Sheldon enjoys running and exploring Ohio’s landscapes from the ground and air as an FAA Certified Private Pilot. His multifaceted career and personal pursuits reflect his unwavering dedication to service and making a positive impact.
