Edward Carignan, Artistic Director

Edward is the current Artistic Director of Short North Stage. For SNS, he has directed, choreographed and/or designed: The Prom, Into The Woods, White Christmas, West Side Story, Pippin, Saturday Night Fever, HAIR, The Rocky Horror Show, Nunsense A-Men, La Cage Aux Follies, Hedwig, Tommy, Murder Ballad, A Chorus Line, and many others.  Regional Director/Choreographer credits include: Hedwig and the Angry Inch (American Repertory Theater, Boston, MA- Broadway World Best Musical 2012), Is There Life After High School? (NYC Revival), Boomermania: The Musical About the Baby Boomers (Original Los Angeles Production), A Christmas Story and Forum (Little Theatre on the Square, IL) Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Newsies, Young Frankenstein, Spamalot, The Wiz, Mary Poppins (Shenandoah Music Theatre) The Rocky Horror Show, A Chorus Line, Dracula, RENT, All Shook Up, Charlie Brown, Chicago, Victor/Victoria, Honk!, Into the Woods, Starting Here, Starting Now, others.  As a performer: Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein (National Tour), Phantom of the Opera (European Tour), Carol Channing in Concert (NYC and Tour), Oceania Cruise Lines(Europe 2005), Gateway Playhouse (NY), Prather Theatres (PA), Broward Stage Door (FL), Palace Theater (NH), Circa 21 (IL), others.

Dionysia Williams Velazco, Associate Artistic Director

Dionysia has been with Short North Stage since the very beginning, performing in their first production of Follies. Since then she has been seen onstage at SNS in Marvelous Wonderettes, Cabaret, Fugitive Songs, A Chorus Line, Spamalot, The Performers, Pippin, Saturday Night Fever, Young Frankenstein, White Christmas, Into The Woods, and Sondheim On Sondheim.

After receiving her B.F.A. in musical theatre from Wright State University Dionysia toured across the country and internationally performing in many Broadway musicals including The Pajama Game (National Tour), Fame (China Tour), and Grease (Istanbul) and has been seen in many different regional theater productions around the country.

As an award-winning professional director/choreographer, Dionysia has worked for Short North Stage, Shenandoah Summer Music Theater, Wright State University, Columbus Children’s Theatre, CATCO, Human Race Theater Company, and BalletMet2. Most recent credits include The Prom, Wild Party, Beautiful, Rock Of Ages, Altar Boyz, Mamma Mia! at Short North Stage (director/choreographer), Bring It On at Columbus Children’s Theater (director/choreographer), and Newsies at Shenandoah Summer Music Theater (choreographer).

Dionysia is a master teacher in musical theater styles, jazz, tap, and is currently on faculty at BalletMet Dance Academy. Kyle McCandless, Company Manager

Kyle is originally from Long Island, New York and has had a lifelong passion for theater thanks to being so close to New York City and it’s amazing arts scene. After graduating with a BA from Providence College, Kyle traveled the world as an airline flight attendant and landed in Columbus with the wonderful opportunity to use his empathetic, detail oriented skills as company manager for Short North Stage. He is excited to welcome artists and audiences to the Garden Theater!
